In my experience late spring calving is much easier but expect less of your calves. They will not be old enough to have the rumen to gain from the grass while they are still nursing. We have lost 20 to 30lbs a calf moving our calving from Apr 1st to apr 15. So I guess its up to each operation to decide if the work is worth the lbs.
