Yes I do too but I think his point was the strip is 8 inches wide,  What is the diff if the seed is 2 or even 3 inches either side of center or within 1/2 of center?

If you are in standing corn stalks off the strip yes stand loss does occur we had a grower do that here. 

There is another advantage to a striptiller that works a WHOLE strip as compared to a "mole" knife that only cuts a grove in the soil as wide as the knife.  Sometimes only 2 inches wide.  And that is HERE.  other places I can see it working a wider area.

With the other systems that work a wide area and you are given a wider area to plant into,  this just so happens to be the Dawn units "here".
