Central SD
"but the 2" difference between XP/HP and RTK is negligible"

If that is true - why does anybody go to the bother and extra expense of RTK. Thinking of all the benefits of autosteer and 1-4" accuracy vs. driving by a marker and trying to keep your planter running on the strips. Isn't it a question of practicality? Does it really make a difference if your corn plant is 2-3" off the fertilizer strip? Just questions about the science of strip-tilling. We no-till plant, spray and combine with SF2. With shift track I can get in previous sprayer tracks or down the corn rows with little problem. Does RTK eliminate the need to ever shift? Does RTK require any information from satellites? If there are problems with satellites, will RTK keep working accurately? We're not quite as picky out here on the plains for accuracy and our corn pops. are in the 16-20,000 range. Not to mention it would take us two 6 mile radius towers to cover our farm. We couldn't even think of 4 other farmers within our main township to partner with on a Red River type tower system. SF2 is the most cost effective correction for our area.
