ecmn | Judging by the way some of the ears filled here, the rain came on the right minute, in the right hour, on the right day. Looking back at it now I wish I would have taken some pictures. Walking fields in late August I found ears with the bottom 2/3's fairly plump and nicely filled out kernels close to beginning dent. The top 1/3 on the other hand was just coming into the milk stage, just getting the yellow color to it. The plant had to be very close to aborting the top 10-12 kernels on the ear. | |
