Ill assume you just bought the truck because you said "this first change"
With that Id say yes to the 2500-3000 range just so you know what you have got to start with.
If it stays on the highway then Id say go for more if you want, just keep a good eye on what the oil looks like on the stick. Of course I dont know how many miles are on the truck either. There are some guys around home here that are shooting for 5000 and doing it so far with no bad effects. I do know of one that goes for 5000 and changes the filter around 2500 and just adds a little bit of oil.
As far as myself I try not to go over 3000.... I was just always hell for keeping clean oil in things. Always thought that was the best things you could do for a motor was keep good oil in.... even if it costs.
Basically just boils down to what works for ya. Probably will hear all kinds of ideas. Just my $.02
