| I've rented several and owned two old houses now and wouldn't trade either for a new house. Old houses have so much more character. My old houses go back to the late 1700's and early 1800's and were built right at the time with rough sawn oak and 18" thick stone walls. You can't afford to build that today. You do have to spend some money on them regularly but I would expect you'd have to spend money on a new house too to keep it up. Old houses are like a 4020, if you never spent any money on one you'd have a parts tractor today, if you spend a little money on it all along you'd have a great tractor that is worth more today than it was when it was new and is probably better than anything that can be bought new today. Look at your current house, is there decent potential with some upgrades, then keep it. If it's past the point of no return like the parts 4020 then you better go new. | |
