I think a cattle ID law, whether brand or premises/rfid tags as in Canada would be a good idea  regardless of Eastern or not. Eastern is just one more reason to do it. Not a big expense or big deal in my opinion, just a logical thing to do.

Mine have new 840 number RFID buttons and tags. I think they were $3 per set. Put them in as cattle came through the chute for regular fall vet visit - cut the old tag out put new tag in old hole in left ear. Put button well inside right ear. Took maybe one minute per head additional. Done.
