Subject: RE: Bedding Cows During Winter?

Thumb of Michigan
My cows are out on pasture, where I feed them. Mostly grass because I feed (RB feeders) on top of either the dirt pile (stack up dirt/manure from barn yard in summer) or on top of the old manure pile. I'll move a RB feeder once in a while on top of the manure pile.

They have access to the barn, that has no bedding, just dry dirt/manure. The only times I will find them laying is there is if it's windy and snow/raining. After this weekend's storm I expect they will be laying on the grassy areas on top of the snow as usual.

Now the barn access is on the east side, so I'll find them standing/laying on the frozen dirt on the south or west side if the sun is shining verses being in the barn.
