Subject: Bedding Cows During Winter?

I’m a beginner, looking for some advice on whether or not bedding cows in the winter is worth it/necessary.

They are in a pasture with hay and getting a little bit of grain every couple days in the winter. They have clean coats and several good windbreaks but no shelter, is bedding necessary? In the snow? In the cold temperatures?

I’m in Michigan, and we are supposed to get a bunch of snow and then a week straight of cold temperatures. Real temp lows around 0 and highs from 10 to 20 Degrees F.

I’ve seen some posts arguing both ways, so just want some more thoughts/advice. I don’t want to bed all winter, maybe just during this cold spell. But I have seen some posts saying once you start you can’t stop otherwise they end up laying in poop and getting dirty causing more problems for yourself.

Thanks in advance.
