North Central Illinois | If it is not a family home and has no other sentimental value push it in a hole and build new. Over twenty years ago I started putting money in a 100 year old house. Since then we have made a lot of improvements and are very comfortable. However with the money that I have tied up in this old house over the years we could have paid for a large chunk of a new house had we gone that route. Like others have mentioned then you get a decent floor plan, new wiring, plumbing, lots of insulation etc.. If I had to do it over again I would tear this house down and build new. My house is one that has been in the family for over 100 years but I would still tear it down and start over. Good luck. | |
