Missouri

How do you plan on handling this much ear corn?

I've kept my corn picking small scale because storing and handling ear corn requires a significant investment if done efficiently. I'm not 20 anymore and anything that involves a shovel or stick to keep things flowing just doesn't interest me at a large scale. I'd really like to try a tall narrow crib like you see in other countries, but with a u trough auger under it with floor gates. Maybe a drag unit would be more suitable than a trough. Could mount the hammer mill right on the end of the trough and dump it in a small bay for scooping or set it up to swing the mixer auger under the end of the trough and grind as needed. I probably won't live long enough to try setting this system up.

I've settled into getting the silage off and the drill in the field as soon as possible. If you're staying on top of the fertility you can get rye up and going fast for fall and spring grazing before green planting beans.
