Subject: Building house or remodel questions?

Saronville NE
Were gonna have to do something about a house in the near future, next yr or so. Our foundation is caving in and it is cracking drywall upstairs, some doors wont open anymore etc. It was built in 1900 and added onto in 1950, when we bought this farm where the house was it needed some serious repair 3 yrs ago and should have never dumped the money we did into it to make it liveable again, anyways after spendin $30k 3 yrs ago, do we dive in and spend another $85-90k on puttin a new basement under it, put an addition on to have a mudroom, bigger kitchen and attach the garage and finish the basement, the house is only bout 1000 sq ft.
Or have looked at a nice ranch style house built in the 60s that needs to be moved and has been totally remodeled in the last 10 yrs, realy nice house 1940 sq ft on top level, but after movin cost, basement, septic system, new driveway etc, pushin3/4 way to a new house.
Or what does it cost to build a new house if you kept it simple, nothing fancy ranch style, 1600-1750 sq ft and a basement, can you build anymore for $100 a sq or way higher now like $125-150 sq? This would be very open floor plan and not fancy by any means.

What is the opnion on what to do in a situation like this? Taxs are cheaper to remodel old house then build new, but with all the little rooms and such an old house is it worth it or not, but dont really have or want to spend the money on a new one either. Give me your opnion! Thanks!
