Compressor on my 3430 Spra Coupe was doing the same thing last year. Clutch on the compressor was quitting when the engine was working. Somehow the additional engine heat was allowing the ground to short out disengaging the A/C clutch.
Don't ask all the other stuff I did before I discovered the problem. Good Luck.
