| Any idea what the pressures are when running and blowing hot air? Would shed a lot of light on what is going on when the condition is present.
Couple things that come to mind are not enough air flow through the condensor which should throw the high pressure cut out switch or a low side restriction. You indicated that engine RPM makes a difference on cooling. Higher RPM causes higher pressure in the system, thus the thought about the condensor.
Has the expansion valve been replaced?
Pressures would really help the process in figuring it out.
