Auburn, Indiana | Our small school system went to full day kind last year. It's been interesting as this year 1st grade teachers had to make major changes to lesson plans and other elementary teachers are now planning their future adjustments. I've got two older boys (High School) and one in Kindergarten this year. While my memory isn't the best, it seems that my kindergartner is reading and doing math problems that my older sons were doing in 1st and 2nd grade. More importantly, in talking with the teacher, her comments have been that she's seen no problems with the kids adjusting from a social aspect. On a side note, our school's policy is that parents can choose whether kids go full or half days. However, from what I've heard all have chosen full day. | |
