I like the system you've put in, Plowboy. We just didn't have the oil we thought we would need, and didn't like the maintenance hassle of used oil burners. Your cost sounds about right for installing the system...we put in our own pex lines before pouring the concrete, and hired the plumbing done in the utility room. Our water heater cost about $2100 IIRC, or over 1/3 of the cost of the whole system. No reason anyone couldn't put together a good system like you did with a little creativity and fab time.
