Subject: Re: heat source for new shop

Leesburg, Ohio
Exactly what "extra insulation" is required for floor heat?? I would have insulated my shop the same with or without floor heat.

We have less than $6000 in our system. At the time, it would have required two tube heaters at $1500 each or more. My math in that case was 1.5 to 2 times the up-front cost for floor heat, and I'm very glad I did it. I understand that you could "get by" with a small radiant hood heater in a small garage, but that's certainly not comparing apple to apples. FWIW
