Subject: Re: Grain sample test variance between elevators.

Centralia, MO
In my area, we had a mess in 2005 when there was a lot of aflatoxin. Blacklighting a sample would show tons of "hot" kernels and there were claims that 1 kernel in a truckload was too much but the local elevator soon learned that absolutely no sample was clean that year under a black light and they were rejecting every load. Then they sent for more sophisticated tests but even within the same company there were a couple of different tests. I would take a load to the local feedmill and it would fail. Take it to the elevator (same company) and it would pass. Once I took a load to both and it failed. I took it back home and called my insurance company and they came out and sampled it. They took the sample to the state lab and it passed. I then took the same load back to the elevator and they passed it and accepted it.
