Texas/New Mexico Stateline
I had to do the same thing, load out of one elevator and dump at another to fill a contract. Down here we are having a lot of trouble with test weight on late milo. The first elevator actually weighs the grain in a test weight cup on a scale the other just uses a Dicky John moisture tester to check the weight. When I loaded out the other day they took a couple of samples and the first elevator with the scales was showing 50-52 lbs per bu. When I get to the other elevator with their 'beep-beep' tester the first test was 51 lbs to the bu. They took the exact same sample and ran it through again, 43 lbs to the bu. Took the exact same sample and checked it again, 52 lbs to the bu. That is a lot of variation for something that is supposed to be so important. Now what sample are they inclined to use? They are giving huge discounts for light grain. I stood there and made sure they put 52lbs. on the ticket.
