Subject: RE: Grain sample test variance between elevators.

East Central Kansas
Had the "opportunity" to haul milo from our local elevator to a terminal(to fill contract at terminal and terminal would not accept above 15% moisture, all ours was harvested at 15%+). We checked moisture on each outbound load(13.9%). The terminal was relatively consistent at about 1/2% higher. They(local elevator) said this has been happening on most of the loads that they shipped to this terminal. The locals tester was just calibrated in the last few months and their readings tend to agree with other destinations' testers. The local uses a single probe that sucks in the sample, while the terminal uses a gated probe.
