And don't forget handing over a $1000 for the "permit" to do the widening and that's for an approach WITHOUT pipe under it. Add to that the county has their "guidelines" you have to follow if you want your $1000 back.

They will drag out the transit and stick..... shoot the entire area, then mark off where the "top" of the entrance will and will not be..... and where the back slope will and will not be.

And through that entire process you MIGHT gain 2 feet of top on an approach. All you end up doing is making the back slope on the sides of the approach comply with the 6:1 backslope standards these days, and because YOU altered the original design of the right a way, IF someone falls asleep and goes off the road and meets your approach, YOU get to meet the damaged party in front of a judge, as you altered the road way beyond the original design there by taking the county off the hook.

Townships are a bit easier to deal with, but the liability of altering the road right of way still exists in this area.
