Subject: RE: gates

Galahad, Alberta
My brother has a 45' Doepker tridem that we got hung up with a couple times coming out of fields the first fall we had it. It's not the width of the gate, but the slope coming up out of fields. Making the turn onto the road, and the trailer would be pulling sideways and down on the fifth wheel, lifting the outside drivers off the road. The Mack tractor doesn't have 8-way lock-upon it, so there you sit! Try to get backed up into the field and go look for another gate. We had to do some leveling, and in one case, abandon a gate that was too hard on the semi when loaded to use. Fortunately, a lot of our fields have multiple entrances.
