| Wanna read an interesting book about steel.
Called "High Steel"
It's about the steel workers that built the hi rises in bye gone days in New Yawk, Chicago and most of the major cities.
Many of the hi-riggers came from Newfoundland, Mohawk Injuns from the Montreal area, Irish and Scandahoovians that braved the big ocean in old sailing ships that had to crawl out the booms to re-rig the sails. They shinnied up the bare boned skyscrapers I beams hundreds of feet with just their bare hands and feet, not a rope or any kind of lock......nothin and fearless.
The last chapter of the book is about steel erection in the Twin Towers and the clean-up after the mess. | |
