I've not run Yetters, but Dawns should be similar. Ours are intersecting only. We have only had trouble with them plugging in one field in about 13 years. There was some sort of viney crap in that particular field which wanted to wrap something awful. I'm told that they will plug with root balls when run intersecting, but we've never had such a problem. One in a while you will find a rock just the right size to plug one.

As to depth. Yes, you run them out of the soil, you run them just scratching, and now-and-then you run them fully engaged in the soil. It just depends on the conditions and what your goal is in using them.

Really do not need them for residue on an Early Riser most of the time. We use them mostly for a final leveling right in front of the row unit and sometimes to toss clods out of the way.
