Subject: Re: Going to Try some Soybeans

Iv heard that too, thats kinda a concern I have. We are at 4000 feet elv here but are able to grow 120 day corn. Our yeilds on corn are around 200 bu but have gotten as high as 250 in the past. One thing we do have is very few cloudy days (less then 4.5 in of rain fall a year).
Im not really sure what I will be doing with the beans after I harvest them but there is a place in Caiforina that will process them (about 200 miles away) and I have trucks that can handle delevering them. Accully it will be a back haul for me. We also have a lot of dairys here and they all use soybean meal. Does anyone have any idea if beans use more water then corn? Im sure I can get the soybean plants to grow, Im jsut wondering if they will make pods and beans, if they dont produce can they just be "green chopped" and put into a pit? Any idea what the value of the feed would be?
