Kaukauna WI | Great ideas guys and gives me food for thought!!
Oakwood, we have a full time guy who does all the milking. I work off the farm but help before and after work and weekends. Hubby does feeding/cleaning/feeds calves/breeds cows/trims feet, etc.
and I took your post in jest.....kind of a rhetorical question. At what point does adding infrastructure stop making sense? How long can hubby keep doing the above? A lot of it is skiddering, but trimming feet is hard on the body. Even breeding cows, his hands are getting more arthritic by the year.
We just added a concrete pad for feed storage (with some gubmit funding, we had to add a leachate tank which didn't come cheap. Like said, no free lunch). but hubby said the rocks we were feeding the cows, it was getting ridiculous the amount of rocks in the feed bunk from the limestone pad. Plus the mudding around.
