Faunsdale, AL | I think some may have missed the point.............If you crowd the cows into a facility, they won't be crowded long. In my experience, it won't be too long before the remaining ones aren't crowded.
My experience with heifers is that it's easy to overcrowd them without realizing. They really accumulate fast when they start calving and none are drying off to make room. I monitor my 1st lactation group better now, still it's easy to get 10% more than I want in there before I realize. They don't take up as much room as older cows, but crowding them has a greater cost in my book.
