I have never owned a 688 but have had a 640 and 650. I always felt that a baler was trouble free until about 7500 bales and after that they started causing a few problems. I wouldnt expect it to be trouble free but if it has been cared for it should have thousands of bales left in it. My 640 had around 30,000 bales and the 650 had around 15,000 or so when I updated them.
