Subject: Re: Land cost vs Usage

My calf program started on a no loan shoe string.  Since those first 25 head all profits are put back into buying more calves each time so there has never been a loan on the calves.  Had I known back when I started buying ground 25 years ago what I know now, pasture and cattle would have been my first buys.  Crops in the dry lands have never paid off as good as the calves per acre.  Cattle kept a lot of guys going when the crops were barely holding their own.
