near dyersville iowa | lets look at cost of land..If you average $100 a head on calves, how many cows/acre do you need to break even? Simple math. 5k land, interest payment $250...means you have to get 2.5 cows/acre to pay interest. Now if you make more than that per head, or have less interest payment...But im pretty sure 2.5 head/acre is pushing it, especially where i live. Although i havent been grazing long, and very well could be wrong, especially the profit numbers.. | |
