The last few years have been extremely poor for the cattle industry ... Work the $85.00 / hundred weight number for good quality 500 lb calves into your plan and see where you go.
Not that long ago good bulls were sold for +/ - 8 cents a pound.... here.
The cattle industry is a long way away from an expansion phase (IMO) We need to continue to cull in the cow / calf sector untill there is at least a full year of prices that show an actual... real ... profit margin. I'm carrying enough debt load now and need the average price to climb to $1.75 / pound to really make me think it's worth while. |
