The foam stuff is great. I used a very good insulation contractor to blow in dry cellulose insulation for my house and shop. If packed in properly, it will not settle and it is cheaper than the wet stuff. I insulated a few interior rooms and used solid wood doors to keep noise levels down (I have three little kids). Geo is a no-brainer. You will get much more use out of the basement if it is a walk out or one complete side out of the ground if you topograghy permits. 9' ceilings instead of 8'. Clear span trusses in the basement so no pole in the middle of the room. I have a lot of input if you wish to e-mail. I know a couple tricks on woodwork. If you don't like a wooden deck, the stamped concrete has come a long way, a good contractor can make concrete look like about anything(stone, brick, wood ect).
