New Mexico | customer pays process, or say $2.40 dressed and you pay the process.
Costs $275 here to process em...Hide and offal is worth $10 to 11 cwt, processor keeps that.
Hides have doubled in price the past year. Hide and offal last year was more like $6 cwt.
On halves/quarters just coordinate 2 to 4 customers per animal.
Least hassle is to sell/weigh em live then coordinate the relationship for a decent harvest/cut/wrap etc.
Keep in mind a cooked steak say 1" thick, was NOT cut at 1" during process.
SOO product generally is BETTER for your customer if you step in with the cut/wrap specs.
There's alot of cattle which with "just a touch of finish" off a grass/corn supp program that will dress in the 68% range. Generally hiefers in the 940 to 1,025 range.
