Litchfield MN. | I have been in the same church for 27 years. I am one of two who are under 60. I know there are "cooler" churches out there with younger congregations, but I have chosen to stay because I am at peace at this church. When I walk in, I get that old musty smell that makes me feel at home. I have a congregation that is very small, but who treat me like their daughter, always making sure I'm doing well. The church has no regular pastor--it is too small--so the diocese sends out retired clergy to minister the messages from the Bible and give out communion almost every Sunday. The music in the church is traditional, played by well experienced organists.
I do not go to church for energy and excitement. I go to church for peace, love and tranquility. When I leave, I feel relaxed and calm. I am ready to handle a week's worth of the above in my daily life in the secular world. I love my little congregation and church. I have never felt the need to leave.
