Subject: Mine was a 62 Studebaker GT Hawk

Coldwater, Michigan
The Hawk had 289 Studebaker engine (not the whimpy Ford 289 that came later). That thing had some iron in it. 4 Speed, 4 barrel, bucket seats, Continental roof line, Black w/butterscotch interior. Enough gauges on the dash to analyze the last grease zerk (not really - there were only 7 of them). Bought it for 200 dollars in 1969, spent some money on it and had a lot of fun with it.

I currently own a 63 Avanti that was the 13th production Avanti, built in June of 62. Four speed on floor, SuperCharged Studebaker 289 with 4 barrel, built in by factory padded roll bar, front disc brakes at a time when big 3 automakers were claiming that disc brakes wouldn't stop a car (weren't offered on Corvettes till 2 years later). Bucket seats that pretty much surround you from back to sides (it's getting harder for me to fit them all the time). They were run on salt flats in 1963 at 189.6 MPH for 10 mile average speed with the optional supercharged 304. Mine only has the 289.

The second picture is what a supercharged one looked like under the hood when new.
