1973 VW Super Beetle. Had to buy it myself.
Still had that car when I got married. Started having problems with it- carburetor- the hubby cussed the sadistic german that invented it and picked up a different car on an auction. I felt very high tech with the 1980 Buick Lesabre- cloth upholstery and you didn't have to drive around to force the heat into the cabin!
Later, a neighbor lady wanted the VW and she had a roll top desk to trade for it. We took the deal and in the 16 1/2 years since the hubby has never had to work on that desk.
The hubby's first vehicle was an old van he bought from a ladies dress shop. It resembled the Mystery Machine (Scooby-Doo) and it had no brakes. Why his parents let him get away with that I don't know. He felt the emergency brake was enough. He eventually fixed the brakes. I have only heard stories about this machine, as I did not know him then. I only saw it in the pasture many years later.
