High Springs, Florida | 1966 Chevelle Malibu. 283 V8, 2 BBL carb, 2 speed Powerglide auto transmission. Dad paid something like $2800 new. Gave it to me at about 98,000 miles. After graduation I bough a new 1973 Chevrolet 3/4 ton, 350 V8 with 4 speed manual. What a piece of crap. Fenders all rusted out in 18 months. But it only cost $3500. By the time it had 90,000 miles on it, it was using a quart every 1000 miles. I changed the oil religiously every 2,000 miles.
The cars and trucks they build these days are so much better than they were back in the 1900's. | |
