WC IL | Retired from seed sales last year, still farming corn and beans and running some cattle. Still have a crop insurance agency.
Went to Arkansas for a week of camping with kids and grandkids last June, then the bride and I went to Yellowstone in Late July-early August. Planning an Alaska trip for this summer. We like to drive ourselves so we can stop when we want to. Found a trip where you fly to Anchorage and then drive yourself with a few things planned in advance, but mostly on your own.
Two years ago I had 2 friends who buried their wives about a month apart, one also buried his MIL and a son. When I visited them about a month later, both said the same thing-”I guess we aren’t going to get to do all those things together we had planned to do some day”. Had planned to slow down at 70, decided 66 was close enough. We both still feel good and have been working for our whole lives. Time to enjoy ourselves a bit.
We truly enjoy each other’s company more than other people, so driving 8-12 hours a day doesn’t bother us. | |
