Subject: RE: Dekalb availability issues?

Jackson County, AL

Here our Nutrien salesman knows the lay of the land with availability and the Bayer rep will tell you all is good.  6599 has been an impressive number the last couple years and we were ready to plant half our crop in it this year but could only get 50 units.  We like even numbers of boxes for easier planter fills and a single box is a hassle with no scales on the planter or tender.  All total there were three good numbers, a couple on the new side that were extremely limited.  Two were going to be trial basis for this year anyway but under 20 bags is as much as they'd promise.  With our varying soils it's hard to get a good picture on so few acres sometimes.  In the right place 12 bags will tell you all you need to know.  Generally we haven't been burned very much on highly recommended new Dekalb varieties.  But, they blew it with 6599 as it was about 15 bushels better than the next variety in a Pioneer plot in a very dry 2022, won again this year in maybe our best corn year ever, and production wasn't there for 2024 due to poor planning.
