I'll echo what everyone else has said - avoid the H for baling hay. I have a Farmall H that has a lot of snort (rebuilt engine with upgraded parts) and I hooked it on my 336 baler a couple years ago. 1st gear was too fast for that thing, it would surge like crazy everytime the plunger hit. Plus no live PTO stinks for baling hay, every time you would push in the clutch to let a big wad feed in the baler would shut off.

I'd recommend looking at a Farmall 400 or bigger/newer. I have an 806D I used for baling now, and that's a dream combo. I also have a John Deere 730 which handles it just fine too, however that TA on the 806 is pretty handy for baling as you can speed up/down when windrows get lighter/heavier.

I do think the H has a place on the farm, ours is an amazing little auger tractor for loading semis (sips gas and auger doesn't pull hard) and I also use it for raking hay.
