| I had the same trouble my 9 speed last fall after buying my first semi. Shifting up or down was a battle for a while. Practice is the best teacher, but it helped me a lot getting some pointers from experienced drivers.
When I down shift, I have to rev the engine a few rpm's then it will slip into the gear easily. Every truck is a little different as far as the rpm and ground speed where it like to make the shift.
The best advice is to find another trucker to help you.
