Subject: Re: Oilfield Drilling Questions

Galahad, Alberta
If your family member wants to run cattle on the ground, make sure that they put in texas gates on the lease road, as a lot of oilfield guys wouldn't bother to close the gate, and then request that they also put in a large gate right beside the texas gate for wide farm machinery. Obviously, a good fence around the oil pad, and request that they round-up their area so there is nothing green inside to tempt the cows. I'm guessing that they are using screw jacks instead of pump jacks to bring the oil up. Up here, they directional drill, or "whipstock" the bit to go horizontally through formations to get more oil out of sites that regular wells couldn't produce anymore. Getting stuck in the hole can be a problem with this procedure.
