Subject: Oilfield Drilling Questions

Oklahoma
Based on the drilling around my hometown, the drillers bragged in the newspapers that they were setting wells 1-2 miles outside of town and were “angle drilling” to get oil out from under the town. So how far out can they realistically set up and still hit a target below? If they propose drilling on X spot, can they move ¼ mile off that X and still hit their site? ½ mile?

The wells they are drilling in this area now don’t have pump jacks, when they are done there is a 3-5 acre pad with a few tanks and generators. Are they pumping that through a poly line to a receiving point?

Any recommendations on questions to ask or things to look out for when they propose drilling on a place that is farmland in a floodplain and at times will run cattle on wheat?

Thanks. And no, I am not getting a well, but have a family member that is concerned about one in his area that may affect some land he has.

Thanks again.
