I agree with the steeper pitch. I think you need to be at least 4 in 12 for regular roofing to be allowed. With you Oregon rains and snow I would go for the steeper pitch that Gerald recommends. Using a metal roof and a steeper pitch will cause snow to slide off of the roof rather than set there and cause a problem. As for the trusses, if the design meets local building code and has a real licensed engineers stamp of approval on it you should be good. And know who to sue if the roof falls in.
