I have a old barn that is 60' wide ( 36' with a 12' side shed on each side) with a concrete floor that I am tearing down. The builder tells me that I can replace it with a 60' clear span using a 3 1/2 x 12 pitch truss with a 2x12 top and bottom cord engineered truss. Is this going to be strong enough or is a 60' clear span wood truss building a wreck in the making? If I remember right we use a 25 lb snow load here.
