| I've been planting all non-GMO corn for several years due to a good premium available here. Haven't had any disasters and farm yield averaged 197 and 185 bpa the past two years, but it's getting hard to find non-GMO varieties that I like. It appears that some of my favorites will be phased out next year, so I'm looking to try out new hybrids before I'm forced into it.
The majority of hybrids presented to me at field days this week were RR varieties. Being in a 50/50 rotation with RR soybeans, I have trouble getting my head around the fact that I will be using glyphosate for the second post application on both crops. Secondly, I'll have to go back to using a different and in my mind inferior product in soybeans for early weed control.
I was hoping someone here who "loves" RR corn can explain their weed program to me and ease some of my fears. Thanks in advance! Dave | |
