nw-wi | hello, we have been raiseing sorghum sudangrass for our beef steers for about 4 years now and we are very happy with the results. we typically plant it around june 1st so we can get 3 crops. we try to mow it around 30in tall and want to get it down to 30 to 40% moisture befor we silage bale it. it can be a challenge to dry so we bought a cunningham steel rolled conditioner for a few hundered dollars, it works really slick it takes off a day or more of drying. When we go about feeding it we just feed the whole round bale without grain or any other suppliments besides our mineral mix. they do really well and eat it right up, so we cant see doing it any other way at this time. | |
