nw oh | Would I still have the feed value if I cut it at say 3-4ft tall? I am also afraid of getting it dry enough. That is why I was hoping to cut it in August. This also reduces our work load, ahead of corn silage, and bean harvest.
How thick, is thick and what fertilizer do I need? I assume nitrogen but how much.
This is a sign of the times. Ground in our part of the world is too valuable to have tied up in alfalfa and any extra roughage I can get out of my wheat ground is a bonus. Wheat does not come close to paying the bills the way corn and beans do but if I can run a roughage crop on it also, then it pays real good. | |
