Subject: Re: robotic milkers

Manitoba, Canada
I find that amazing that the technology has got to the level that there is no need for a backup milking unit. As far as the kicking and moving cows go does it keep trying a certain number of times then give up or does it keep trying until it milks her? I would think if the robot gave up too easily some cows would learn to keep moving until they were released. They are annoyingly smart sometimes. Also, how do heifers transition to it? In general are the animals quite calm while being milked? By the way, thanks for telling us about your experiences with them, very valuable info and very much appreciated!
