Subject: RE: robotic milkers

Manitoba, Canada
I've heard of a few larger dairies over here that have went with them and are now installing more so they must be working out in their barns. I kinda wonder if it wouldn't work better on a larger farm with multiple machines where there is always a worker around anyways and if one machine breaks down the others could take up the slack. I'm curious to know if any smaller farms have installed them and are happy. A Lely robot just got installed in a cold, bedding pack style barn, just up and running this monday. I am curious to see how he makes out with it this winter as I currently use a cold bedding pack barn too. The dealers say your time is spent managing cows rather than milking which would be a good thing if it is true.
